Abigail Spencer Joins FOX’s Best Medicine

FOX has added Abigail Spencer (Suits, Grey’s Anatomy) to the cast of its upcoming comedy Best Medicine, based on All3Media International’s Doc Martin.

Spencer will star as local school teacher Louisa Glasson, who is bothered by surgeon Martin Best’s blunt bedside manner. Josh Charles (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Good Wife) is starring in the lead role as Best.

Best Medicine is being produced by FOX Entertainment Studios and executive-produced by Ben Silverman (The Office, U.S.), Rodney Ferrell (Stick), Howard T. Owens (Stick), Liz Tuccillo (Sex and the City), Mark Crowdy (Doc Martin) and Philippa Braithwaite (Doc Martin). FOX Entertainment Global is handling international distribution.

The series is based on All3Media International’s Doc Martin, which was originally produced in the U.K. by Buffalo Pictures in association with Homerun Film Productions.
