The Italian series Inspector Montalbano, based on the detective novels of Andrea Camilleri, has been added to the BBC iPlayer’s selection and will soon arrive on BBC Four in the U.K.

All 34 episodes of Inspector Montalbano launched on the iPlayer this weekend. BBC Four will begin broadcasting a selection of episodes starting December 25.

The deal with the BBC was struck by RAI.COM and Videoplugger. Emanuele Galloni, CEO of Videoplugger, said, “The choice by the BBC to feature on the iPlayer for the first time the entire collection of the Inspector Montalbano series is for us great satisfaction and pride. In the year when we had to say ‘goodbye’ to Andrea Camilleri, the glorious writer of the Montalbano books, and Andrea Sironi, the historical director of the TV series, this is possibly the best way to celebrate the life and the work of these two great artists and professionals in the U.K. Salvo Montalbano’s TV movies, which have enjoyed success in the U.K. and many parts of the world, can now be enjoyed in their entirety by the large and very loyal BBC audience. We are particularly proud that our sales and business development efforts have led to this achievement.”
