NEW YORK/TORONTO: ZEE has sealed a partnership with Ethnic Channels Group Limited, a distributor of foreign-language TV services, to roll out a HD version of its flagship channel in Canada.

The Indian media conglomerate already operates six services in the Canadian market: ZEE TV, Alpha ETC Punjabi, Zing, ZEE Salaam, ZEE Tamizh and ZEE Cinema. ZEE TV HD, a 24/7 service targeting women, will be carried on NEXTV, which also carries ZEE Cinema and Zing.

“ZEE TV HD was the first South Asian Network to go HD in the U.S. last year and we are very pleased to now announce the launch of ZEE TV Canada in HD, thus continuing the tradition of being first,” said Akhilesh Gupta, director of distribution at ZEE Americas. “ZEE Americas maintains its leadership position in the North American market by delivering the highest quality in entertainment that the South Asian audience wants to watch.”
