CMF Investing in Projects with Luxembourg & South Africa

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) will invest more than C$500,000 ($372,595) in eight co-development and co-production projects with Film Fund Luxembourg and South Africa’s National Film and Video Foundation.

The two international funding organizations from Luxembourg and South Africa, respectively, will match CMF’s total investments. Their combined investment of C$492,000 ($366,633) brings the total investment in the projects to C$992,000 ($739,228). Selected committees made up of representatives from each funding organization evaluated and chose the following projects.

Five Canadian production companies will work with five Luxembourg companies on Cracké Wacky Island (Productions Squeeze, Zeilt Productions), Ghost Dance (URBANIA MEDIA, a_BAHN), L’Aventure RV du Film Playmobil (Kaïbou Production, Bidibul Productions), Cult (Omni Film Drama Development, Samsa Film) and Eureka (Six Island Productions, Samsa Films). These selected projects include a mobile app, a documentary web series, virtual reality adventures, a drama web series and an environmental web series.

The three projects that will be made by teams of Canadian and South African production companies are drama series The Rush (Quiet Revolution Pictures, Rous House Productions), OASIS I (OP Development, Blue Ice Africa) and Queen of the Rain (Caribbean Tales, Fuzebox Entertainment).
