CMF Awards $4.5 Million to Canadian Digital Media Projects

TORONTO: The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has revealed that 31 digital media projects have received a total of C$6.3 million ($4.5 million) in funding from the second round of development and marketing support from the 2015-16 Experimental Stream.

The CMF has contributed more than C$65 million ($46.8 million) in development and marketing support to 294 interactive digital media projects since the Experimental Stream was created in 2010.

A total of 22 Canadian companies received support totaling over C$4.6 million ($3.3 million) to develop 15 games, five applications, one virtual reality project and one streaming software. The CMF has contributed C$1.7 million ($1.2 million) in marketing support to nine interactive digital media projects including seven games, one eBook and one website.
