Breakthrough Entertainment Acquires Joker Films

TORONTO: Breakthrough Entertainment has purchased Joker Films, an independent film sales, packaging and production company.

Joker Films' entire catalogue will join the Breakthrough Entertainment portfolio. This includes The Lifeguard, starring Kristen Bell and Martin Starr; That Burning Feeling, featuring John Cho and Paulo Costanzo; Daydream Nation, led by Josh Lucas; and Step Dogs, starring Dylan Schmid and Eliana Jones.

Tim J. Brown, the founder of Joker Films, takes on the role of executive VP of feature films at Breakthrough. Brown will oversee the activities of the feature-film division, including acquisitions, sales and marketing. He will report to Nat Abraham, the president of distribution at Breakthrough.
