NHK Launching VOD Service

TOKYO: NHK World TV, the English-language TV service from Japan’s NHK, is scheduled to debut an international VOD hub next week.

Launching June 15, the digital service will be available free of charge both in Japan and overseas. The portal will start with 13 catch-up shows transmitted a week or two after their original air date. Major debate programs and travel shows containing useful information for visitors to Japan will also be featured.

The VOD programming lineup is expected to expand as the site gains access to more IP rights.
