TOKYO: Japanese commercial broadcaster Nippon TV is heading to MIPCOM with a programming slate featuring new formats, animated series and dramas, with the format The One(s) I Loved leading the pack.

That title reunites celebrities with people from past relationships, including first loves. Another new format is the observational quiz show Would You Play?, which has studio guests decide if anyone would buy over-priced items at misplaced locations. On the cartoon front, the sci-fi Parasyte tells the story of a high-schooler attacked by an alien parasite, while Laughing Under the Clouds chronicles three brothers who take on the task of guarding a prison. Rounding out the slate are the police drama ST MPD Scientific Investigation Squad and the mystery-themed The Files of Young Kindaichi Neo, based on a famous Japanese manga series.

“We at Nippon TV are very excited about this year’s MIPCOM,” said Yukiko Kimishima, Nippon TV’s divisional president of international business development. “The introduction of our new formats, dramas and animation series makes for a wonderful and diverse offering. We are equally as excited about being part of Treasure Box Japan which is a unique collaboration designed to promote formats that have been created in Japan.”
