HONG KONG: Backed by Sky News Australia, a new pay-TV channel is set to begin rolling out across Asia next month delivering the latest Australian news, business and sports headlines.

The service is being launched by Australian News Channel—a joint venture company of Nine Entertainment Company, Seven West Media and BSkyB that operates the Sky News services in Australia and New Zealand—with Lightning International tapped to handle distribution. Australia Channel launches November 1.

"Our production centers across Australia are committed to produce high-quality news, business, weather and sports programming in real-time for our viewers to Australia Channel," said Australian News Channel CEO Angelos Frangopoulos at CASBAA.
