HONG KONG: NBCUniversal International Television has reached a deal for Universal Channel, Syfy and DIVA to be available via authenticated simulcast on multiple devices in Taiwan, following similar agreements in Malaysia and Singapore.

“We are excited to be at the forefront in delivering channels in Asia and particularly the first in Taiwan to provide solutions for our audiences to consume U.S. content,” said Christine Fellowes, managing director for the Asia Pacific at Universal Networks International. “Enabling our key channels to be on TV Everywhere demonstrates our commitment to supporting our partners as they progress to new and innovative ways of delivering channels to their subscribers.”

As part of the deal with Chunghwa MOD in Taiwan, the service's customers will be able to access Universal Channel and Syfy on their devices by year end, with DIVA to follow in January. "Chunghwa Telecom's MOD is at the vanguard of digital TV in Taiwan and we are thrilled to continue to roll out our TV Anywhere service with the addition of NBCUniversal, and be the first platform in Taiwan to do so," said Ming-Te Wu, VP of the Northern Taiwan Business Group at Chunghwa Telecom."

NBCUniversal has a deal with Telekom Malaysia whereby HyppTV subs have authenticated access to Universal Channel and Syfy. In Singapore, StarHub will begin providing E!, Syfy and Universal Channel on its TV Anywhere service this week.
