MP & Silva Adds Four More Years to Badminton Deal

SINGAPORE: MP & Silva has entered into a four-year deal extension that will see it distributing worldwide media rights for Badminton Asia’s full calendar of badminton events until 2020.

The deal covers global media rights from 2017 to 2020 and all media platforms and devices, including online and mobile, as well as betting and in-flight rights. Badminton Asia’s events include the region’s premium international tournament in the Badminton Asia Championships, as well as the Badminton Asia Team Championships, Mixed Team Championships, the Junior Under-19, Under-17 and Under-15 Championships.

Since entering into a partnership three years ago, MP & Silva has expanded the visibility of Badminton Asia’s events, reinforcing its broadcast footprint across major badminton countries such as China, Japan, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. MP & Silva has also showcased the events in new territories through its global network.

MP & Silva’s CEO, Jochen Lösch, said, “The ultimate goal of the partnership is to elevate Badminton in Asia, both on and off the court. We are very proud of this partnership and this extension recognizes our leadership and expertise in the sports media rights market. We look forward to continue building the profile of the sport with our global experience and local knowledge.”

Anton Aditya Subowo, the president of Badminton Asia, added, “We are grateful and delighted to continue working with MP & Silva who have expanded the visibility of our events since our partnership three years ago. We are very excited to explore new levels of viewership. We look forward to continue building on our values and achievements, and we’re confident this will help grow the sport in emerging markets in Asia and further develop our global TV audience.”
