HBO Becomes Broadcast Home for Oscars in Asia

SINGAPORE: HBO Asia is now the official home for the Academy Awards telecast, which will broadcast across 18 territories in AsiaPac.

The premium cable channel will provide coverage of the nominee announcement and red-carpet events, in addition to the live broadcast of the 87th Academy Awards. For the first time ever, coverage will include backstage access to the winners. The awards show will air on February 23, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. on HBO Asia.

HBO and HBO HD will offer encores of the complete Oscars experience with subtitles from February 23 to March 8, 2015. HBO Signature, HBO on Demand and HBO Go will also deliver the Oscars coverage.

“With HBO as the new home of the Oscars in Asia, Hollywood’s most watched and anticipated television event is now available live to subscribers as a complete Oscars experience,” said Jonathan Spink, the CEO of HBO Asia. “And for the first time in the history of the Academy Awards, viewers can watch winners backstage in a live feed, shown to Asian viewers on HBO.”
