Beyond West Sets Up Shop in Perth

SYDNEY: Beyond Screen Productions (BSP) has launched an office in the Western Australian city of Perth, where the new business will be referred to as Beyond West.

Mikael Borglund, Beyond International’s CEO and managing director, noted: "We have been impressed by the growing pool of talented filmmakers in the West for some time, and have been examining ways to do more work there, both through co-productions, and in international distribution. Opening an office in Perth will allow us to work much more closely with local producers."

Beyond West has already concluded co-development and production deals with Factor 30 Films’ Melissa Kelly, Spear Point Productions’ Kelrick Martin and Zinc Finger’s Russell Vines. Beyond West will serve as co-producer on projects from Western Australia, with Beyond International providing sales support via its offices and employees in the U.K., Ireland and the U.S. During the development stage, BSP will offer production advice as well as legal, accounting and management assistance.

Harry Bardwell is on board to executive produce the co-productions and liaise between Western Australian producers and Beyond’s Sydney branch. Ron Saunders will serve as executive producer for Beyond.
