Paramount+ Lands in South Korea

Paramount+ is now available in South Korea, with the streaming service accessible to subscribers of local OTT giant TVING at no extra cost.

Subscribers can access Paramount+ and Showtime originals such as Halo, Yellowjackets, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber and Mayor of Kingstown, plus Paramount Pictures library films, CBS shows like NCIS, animated series from Nickelodeon and more.

The Paramount-owned service arrives in South Korea via a partnership with TVING parent company CJ ENM that also includes content licensing and distribution, plus original series. The first to emerge from this alliance is a sci-fi drama called Yonder, which is set to arrive on TVING later this year and on Paramount+ internationally. Paramount is also exploring Korean adaptations of its scripted IP, global franchises and reality shows.

Mark Specht, executive VP and managing director for Central & Northern Europe and Asia at Paramount, said, “The launch of Paramount+ in Korea with TVING marks a pivotal moment in our expansion, as we introduce our premium streaming service to Asia. South Korea is a vibrant market for streaming as well as content production, music, and culture. We are very excited to partner with CJ ENM to expand our streaming business and produce great Korean content for audiences in Korea, Asia, and around the globe.”

Jay Yang, CEO of TVING, commented, “Please look forward to the well-made, various K-content that will enter the global market through the partnership of the number one K-content platform TVING and one of the top entertainment companies, Paramount.”
