Ellen DeGeneres Talk Show Hits China

BURBANK: The Ellen DeGeneres Show is now available on China's Sohu Video, making it the first U.S. daily talk show to be carried in the country.

Episodes from the 11th season of Ellen will be subtitled in Chinese and delivered within 48 hours of their U.S. broadcast. The episodes will be available on Sohu on demand, remaining on the online video provider until the license period ends.

“Sohu offers Chinese Internet users a diversified portfolio of top-quality content, with a wide coverage of hot TV dramas, animation and now U.S. talk shows,” said Dr. Charles Zhang, the chairman and CEO of Sohu.com. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show is one of the most well-known talk shows in the U.S., and we believe it could also have strong appeal and relevance with the Chinese audience.”

"Ellen has clearly differentiated herself and her talk show from so many of the controversial conflict-oriented talk shows as it has become an increasingly positive alternative in daytime featuring the biggest stars from worlds of film, television and music," said Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution. "She has an unmatched and unique brand of family-friendly humor and love of pop culture that appeal to audiences of all ages in a very fun one-hour of programming. We are thrilled that Ellen will now be seen in China and is the first U.S. talk show available there."
