PARIS: The inaugural MIP China Hangzhou event this May, focused on co-development opportunities, has lined up 55 participating companies.

Taking place May 23 to 25 at the Hyatt Regency in the lakeside city of Hangzhou, the event has lined up leading regional broadcasters and online platforms from China, among them Shanghai Media Group, Hunan TV, Tencent Video and Zhejiang TV, as well as production studios such as Huace Film & TV, JY Animation and Zhongnan Animation. Consumer brands Intel China, l’Óreal, Pepsi and Yili are also participating.

Similar to the MIP Cancun format, MIP China Hangzhou will feature one-on-one meetings between Chinese and international companies interested in co-developing content. Among the 30 international companies participating are all3media, ABS-CBN, Caracol, Global Agency, Globo, GMA Worldwide, Millimages, Televisa, TV Azteca, Viacom International Media Networks and ZDF Enterprises.

“The enthusiastic reaction from Chinese and international companies to the inaugural MIP China Hangzhou underlines the potential for cross-border content development between Chinese and international production companies,” said Ted Baracos, the director of market development at Reed MIDEM’s television division. “Over two and a half days, delegates will access meetings, social events and company visits that will help create new business and partnership opportunities.”

The deadline for international companies to register for MIP China Hangzhou is April 14.
