TV5MONDE USA to Present Live Coverage of Cannes Film Festival

LOS ANGELES, May 1:
TV5MONDE USA, the only 24/7 French-language channel in the U.S., will air
exclusive live coverage of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, which is set to take
place from May 14 to 25.

Coverage of the festival
will air on TV5MONDE USA during the series The 25th Image (25eme Image) Monday through Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The 25th
Image
provides behind-the-scenes
action from the 61st Cannes Film Festival, showcasing live interviews with
celebrities.

The films airing on
TV5MONDE leading up to this year’s festival include L’Adversaire, which was an official selection at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and was
nominated for a Golden Palm award; La Californie, which
was based on Georges Simenon’s novel Chemin sans issue (No way out), and was an Official Selection at the 2006 Cannes Festival as part
of the “Un Certain Regard” section; and Bord De Mer, a dramatic comedy that was presented as an
official selection at the 2002 Cannes Festival for the Director’s Fortnight,
and won a Golden Camera award for director Julie Lopes Curval. Other films
airing in the run-up to the festival are Le Huitième Jour, a dramatic comedy that earned best actor awards
for Daniel Auteuil and Pascal Duquenne at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival; and Les
Chansons D’Amour
, a musical that
was an official selection in competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2007 and
earned a Cesar Award for Best Music Written For a Film. Rounding out the slate
is Un Heros Tres Discret, based
on the novel by Jean-François Deniau and presented at the Cannes Film Festival
in 1996. This drama won the Best Screenplay award at the festival for writers
Jacques Audiard and Alain Le Henry, and was nominated for a Golden Palm.
