TV Land Orders Sitcom Pilots

NEW YORK: The comedy series Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 have been given cast-contingent pilot orders from TV Land.

Marking TV Land’s foray into scripted comedy, the shows are being developed for TV Land PRIME, the network’s programming block targeted at people in their 40s.

Hot in Cleveland is written by Suzanne Martin (Frasier, Ellen) and produced by Sean Hayes’ (Will & Grace) Hazy Mills Production. The comedy centers on three eccentric L.A. women of a certain age whose lives are changed forever when they unexpectedly land in Cleveland and soon rediscover themselves in this new city. Retired at 35 is written by Chris Case (Reba, Spin City), and Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis (Rita Rocks, Reba, Titus) are executive producers. Retired at 35 follows a successful businessman who decides to leave New York City and move into his parents’ Florida retirement home to reconnect with them, reevaluate his life and live the dream of retirement.

"TV Land is thrilled to work with some of the most talented writers and producers in the business to create funny, relatable sitcoms for our viewers," said Larry W. Jones, the president of TV Land. "TV Land’s programming lineup features some of the most popular comedies on television, making TV Land PRIME the perfect environment to premiere original sitcoms. Our audience truly loves this genre and we can’t wait to give them more."
