NGCI Launches Nat Geo Adventure

WASHINGTON, DC, April 2:
National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) is launching a new channel,
Nat Geo Adventure.

This new channel will
concentrate on high-energy exploration and adventure programming and aims to
engage young backpackers and travelers craving edgy content that mirrors their
curiosity and fearless nature.

Beginning May 1, Nat Geo
Adventure will be available in more than
40 countries around the world including
Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia,
Israel, Africa and the Middle East. The channel will also appear in block
format in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.

“Nat Geo Adventure
captures the attention of a younger audience eager to stretch the boundaries of
their knowledge about the world and their own limitations,” said David
Haslingden, the CEO of National Geographic Channels International. “The channel
offers another platform for NGCI to provide high-quality programming that
captures the spirit of adventure and exploration that is at the core of the
National Geographic brand.”

The channel’s first
original commission is the ten-part series Chasing Che, which chronicles the journey of two young Latin
Americans as they retrace the route that Ernesto “Che” Guevara took through
South America in his acclaimed book The Motorcycle Diaries.

Nat Geo Adventure joins a
growing number of channels under the NGCI umbrella. In addition to its core
channel, NGCI has recently launched Nat Geo Wild and is continuing to increase
its presence in high definition with National Geographic Channel HD.
