TV 2 Denmark Set for Sesame Block

CANNES/COPENHAGEN/NEW YORK: Localized Sesame Workshop programming, including Play With Me Sesame and Elmo’s World, is set to launch as part of a block on Denmark’s TV 2 this fall.

The as-yet-unnamed block, consisting of two seasons (80×30 minutes) is scheduled to premiere in September 2009 and will be hosted by Denmark’s own Elmo and his new Danish friend.

“No matter what part of the world you live in, learning about letters, numbers and even sharing is made easier when you do it with friends,” said Terry Fitzpatrick, the executive VP of distribution at Sesame Workshop. “Sesame Workshop is pleased to have found a friend in TV 2 and we look forward to learning and sharing these important lessons with all the Danish children, Muppets and caregivers.”

Preben Vridstoft, executive producer of children’s programs at TV 2, added: “We are thrilled to present the children of Denmark with a localized Sesame Street block that is filled with the beloved Muppets known all around the world. For nearly 40 years, Sesame has been a brand trusted by parents and loved by kids, and we are delighted to give Denmark its very own Elmo and human host to represent its rich culture.”
