ATLANTA: Turner Broadcasting System has nabbed the network TV rights to the upcoming films Cinderella and The Jungle Book, both from The Walt Disney Studios, to air on the company’s bouquet of channels approximately two years after their theatrical releases.

The features are live-action adaptations of classic animated Disney films. Cinderella is due out in theaters in March, while The Jungle Book is slated to debut next October. The tentative network premiere windows are mid-2017 for Cinderella and early 2018 for The Jungle Book. Both movies will be available to channels across Turner Broadcasting’s portfolio, including TBS, TNT and Cartoon Network.

Turner Broadcasting also recently secured network deals for the next five theatrical releases from Disney’s subsidiary Marvel, among them Avengers: Age of Ultron and the third Captain America film.

“We are confident Disney’s new live-action versions of Cinderella and The Jungle Book will appeal to a wide range of demographics and will enjoy extremely successful runs across our various branded networks,” said Deborah K. Bradley, senior VP and head of program acquisitions, content strategy and licensing for Turner Broadcasting System. “These movies are the kind of tent-pole releases that will fit perfectly with Turner’s ever-growing stable of blockbuster titles.”
