Tigress Secures New Animal Planet Commission

CANNES, October 9: Animal Planet International has
commissioned Tigress Productions to produce the new 13×30-minute series Going
Ape, about the protection of primates.

The show is slated to launch in the U.K. in November, followed
by the launch in the rest of Europe, as well as in Asia and Canada, in Q1 2007.
It focuses on chimps, gorillas, baboons and mandrills orphaned by the bush meat
trade in Cameroon.

“Going Ape is
conservation in action,” said Rebecca Batties, the executive VP of creative
development and brand management at Discovery Networks International. “The
program furthers Animal Planet International’s commitment to present the
complexities of environmental issues through inventive formats that inform,
engage and inspire audiences around the world.
