The Fairies Inks First International Format Production Deal

NEW YORK, September 11:
The U.S. Hispanic outlet V-me has secured the rights to produce the first local
version of the Australian kids’ series The Fairies in a deal that will allow it to distribute its
version to Latin America, Spain, Brazil and Portugal.

V-me Media will produce 26
half-hour episodes and two direct-to-DVD specials in Spanish and Portuguese,
beginning pre-production later this year. V-me will work closely with series
creator Jen Watts to adapt selected characters and story lines so that they can
be as culturally relevant as possible.

The characters and sets in
The Fairies were created to
ensure easy replication and adaptation for all nationalities. There are
additional plans to produce international versions in other territories, with
Germany, Scandinavia, Chinese-language countries and India being the priority
markets. The intention is to create three production hubs around the world to
produce formatted versions of The Fairies, utilizing the existing Adelaide studios in South Australia for the
Asian-language versions, a studio in Europe (possibly in Brussels) for the
European-language versions; and V-me for North and South America.
