Tesco Unveils Digital Download Service

LONDON, November 12:
Inking content supply deals with Sony Pictures Television International and
Warner Bros., British supermarket chain Tesco has launched a beta version of
its TV-and-film download service.

Tesco Digital will deliver
from SPTI titles like Spider-Man 3, Open Season and Superbad,
and from Warner Bros. new films as well as TV fare such as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, available a day after the
TV broadcast. These join a range of music downloads already available through
Tesco Digital. Customers will be able to download to own TV episodes for £1.87,
library films for £6.97 and new-release titles for £10.97. In the coming
months, Tesco Digital will also offer customers download-to-rent films.

Graham Harris, the commercial director at Tesco, noted: "We
said back in April when we launched our site that our aim for the new Tesco
Digital site was for it to be more than just a music download portal— we
wanted to create an exciting and easy-to-use entertainment shop that Tesco
customers of all technical ability can use and trust. This next development
confirms we are doing just that."
