Globo Opens New HQ in São Paulo

SAO PAULO, May 15: Globo TV has opened its new headquarters in São Paulo in the Jornalista Roberto Marinho building, with the company’s administrative and commercial departments relocating from Rio de Janeiro to join its production and news centers.

The Globo TV International Business Division was also relocated to the new address. “This move to São Paulo is strategic,” said Ricardo Scalamandré, the general director of the Globo TV International Business Division. “Being near the commercial department will give us more synergies and facilities. São Paulo is the financial heart of Brazil and where the primary deals take place.”

The opening celebrations for the new building also marked the 42nd anniversary of Globo TV. The president of Globo Organizations, Roberto Irineu Marinho, said of the move: “We needed a headquarters that corresponded to the importance of São Paulo, the city that concentrates 25 percent of all households with televisions and 60 percent of the advertising budget. With the integration of the employees in the new building, we can transform Globo TV into a communications channel that is even more effective and economically viable, in addition to generating resources so that the broadcasting company may provide more quality.”

Globo TV São Paulo is staffed with around 1,500 employees in 17 distinct areas. The building has 15 floors, one being for conventions, a 160-seat auditorium and a panoramic studio.
