TORONTO: Temple Street Media Ventures has established TS Games, a new division dedicated to mobile gaming to extend the reach of existing entertainment brands and develop original IP.

The company will pursue the majority of mobile gaming development in-house, although partnership with third-party gaming companies on larger-scale productions are also part of the new division’s mandate. The studio’s first two projects are already in development as extensions of existing Temple Street IP: a dance-off game for The Next Step (Family Channel, Hulu, CBBC) and an 8-bit retro-style runner game for Killjoys (Space, Syfy, NBCUniversal).

“We believe that the next great entertainment property can come not just from a hit TV series, but from any great creator, and that includes the world of mobile games,” says Michel Pratte, the VP of Temple Street Media Ventures. “We have assembled a talented team with decades of experience at some of the world’s greatest technology companies including GameLoft and Xtreme Labs, and have paired them with top producers of high-quality entertainment content to ensure that all of our properties consider multiple platforms from the earliest stages of development.”

“The early wins for TS Games lie in building expertise to leverage the company’s existing brands and IP as a way to build audience and brand awareness that will benefit Temple Street, our broadcasters and creative partners,” added Temple Street’s managing director, John Young. “At the core of our ethos is the desire and ability to collaborate with and empower creators from all walks of life and the launch of our gaming studio is a natural extension of this approach to content creation."
