Televisa Acquires Nick Latin America's Skimo

MIAMI,
January 16: Nickelodeon Latin America has licensed its first original
live-action series, Skimo, to
Televisa’s Canal 5 in Mexico.

This partnership further
strengthens Nickelodeon’s relationship with Televisa, which currently airs Unfabulous,
Drake and Josh, SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Danny Phantom
and Nick Jr.’s Go-Diego-Go, among others.

Skimo’s talented cast of Mexican kids has developed a loyal
following of fans on Nick,” commented Adeline Delgado, the VP of international
programming sales at MTV Networks Latin America. “This sale will take Skimo to new heights expanding its reach to more than 20
million households in Mexico. We really believe in this property and given the
success of our other Nickelodeon properties on Canal 5, we are certain that
this show will be a hit in their line-up.”

"For Televisa, the
“tween” market is very important and we are constantly looking for programming
designed for their age and interests,” added Carlos Sandoval, the director of
acquisitions for Televisa. “Acquiring Nickelodeon shows like Skimo offers our company a
new opportunity to be closer to this audience with quality shows specifically
tailored for them.”

Skimo
is a half-hour
comedy series featuring the adventures of two teenagers who hit it big when
they open their very own snack bar. The
second season is airing on the Nickelodeon’s north and south feeds (Mexico,
Colombia, Argentina and Chile, among others). Season one is ending in Brazil
with season two set to launch next month.
