MUNICH: Telepool has picked up the worldwide distribution rights for Dreamtool Entertainment’s Hunt for the Amber Room (Die Jagd nach dem Bernsteinzimmer).

The deal follows the success of the international breakout hits The Charlemagne Code and The Spear of Destiny. Hunt for the Amber Room is the third installment about the fabled Czarist treasure that was robbed by the Nazis and disappeared at the end of the war. Telepool sold the first two installments to more than 70 territories worldwide.

It was produced by Dreamtool Entertainment for RTL Television. The cast features Kai Wiesinger (The Harmonists), Bettina Zimmermann (Charlemagne Code) and Fabian Busch (The Downfall), under the direction of Florian Baxmeyer.

Irina Ignatiew, the executive VP of international at Telepool, said: "After the runaway success of Charlemagne Code and Spear of Destiny, both as local primetime tent-poles and as international market magnets, it makes perfect sense for us to continue with this great franchise, which combines gripping storytelling with top-notch production value, spectacular settings and a sexy cast. The third installment manages to top the eye-candy level of the first two, and could easily be a theatrical release. We’re very excited to present an exclusive sneak peek at first footage for our partners at MIPCOM."

Stefan Raiser, the managing director at Dreamtool Entertainment and Amber Room producer, added: "To make exceptional movies, you need exceptional partners. Without the tireless dedication and courageous trailblazing of our world sales partners at Telepool, our adventure trilogy would never have become the success it has. On Hunt for the Amber Room, we took it up another notch, delivering a truly cinematic viewing experience, a real cliffhanger, and what is surely the greatest adventure event in its league."
