Telemundo, Televisa in Mexican Digital Deal

MEXICO CITY/MIAMI, October
20: Grupo Televisa has inked a deal to distribute original content from
Telemundo to digital and wireless platforms in Mexico.

The digital alliance is
part of a broader deal announced in March for Televisa to distribute content
from the U.S. Hispanic broadcaster on multiple platforms in Mexico, including
broadcast, pay and emerging digital outlets.

With the deals,
Telemundo’s popular telenovelas, currently airing on Televisa’s Channel 9, will
be made available on the entertainment portal www.esmas.com, the online
subscription-based service www.esmastv.com.mx and Televisa’s new VOD site
www.tvolucion.com. In addition, Televisa will offer images, ring tones and
text-messaging services based on Telemundo’s content to mobile-phone users in
Mexico through Esmas Movil.

Alfonso de Angoitia, the
executive VP of Grupo Televisa, said, “This strategic agreement enhances
Televisa’s digital media offerings by enabling audiences and advertisers in
Mexico to further benefit from Telemundo’s content across Televisa’s broad
spectrum of digital platforms.”

Don Browne,
the president of Telemundo Communication Group, added: "This is another
great step forward in our relationship with Grupo Televisa. Televisa is a
world-class company with a great brand. Joining our expertise and strengths
will bring dynamic and quality programming to a significantly greater consumer
base in Mexico."
