PARIS: Technicolor has entered into a deal with Mediacontech to acquire Mikros Image, a French production and postproduction company with offices in Paris and Montreal.

Mikros Image provides production and postproduction services for feature animation, advertising, feature films and TV. The company earned 44 million euros in revenue in 2014. Its feature animation portfolio includes such titles as Asterix: Le Domaine des Dieux, Mune le Gardien de la Lune and Le Petit Prince. “The acquisition of Mikros Image aligns with our strategic objective to grow in animation and advertising,” said Technicolor CEO Frederic Rose. “Their proven expertise in feature animation film and advertising will strengthen our offering.”

Technicolor’s acquisition of Mikros Image will enhance its position in the animation sector. The transaction complements the company’s animation services, which includes the recent acquisition of France’s Ouido Productions. Mikros will benefit from Technicolor’s cutting-edge technologies and access to broader resources. The company will retain its own brand, management and culture of creativity while sitting in Technicolor’s brands portfolio alongside MPC, Mr. X, Ouidi and Technicolor. The agreement will most likely be finalized in Q2 2015.
