SVT Orders Second Season of Playa del Sol

STOCKHOLM, September 17:
Sweden’s SVT has commissioned a second season of the comedy series Playa del
Sol
, which has also been licensed
around the world in several new deals, from Sparks Network member Baluba.

Playa del Sol has been picked up in several territories, most
recently by Sony Pictures Television for the U.S. market. Other territories
that have optioned the format during the summer include Germany, the
Netherlands, Belgium and Poland. The format, from Sweden’s Baluba, is
distributed worldwide by Sparks Network.

The format is based on the
endeavors of the staff at a charter company at a holiday resort, where a
careerist has to work as a tour leader to get promoted.

“We are very excited about
the commission of the second series in Sweden,” said Peter Settman, the CEO of
Baluba and the creator of the series. “The charter resort is the perfect arena
for a comedy that everybody easily can relate to. We are now working with an
extremely talented script writing team in for the new series that we will shoot
in the spring of 2009.”
