Sundance Channel Gets Canadian Launch

TORONTO: Corus Entertainment is launching Sundance Channel in Canada on March 1, showcasing a range of feature films, festival-selected shorts, documentaries and original series.

The schedule of Sundance Channel is built around six programming blocks, anchored weeknights in prime time and on Saturday and Sunday nights. The Monday block, Sundance Stage, focuses on film adaptations of stage plays. Tuesday’s Critics Choice block kicks off with In the House with Gruber and Bart, featuring entertainment news and interviews. Each episode is followed by a film chosen from festival selections from around the world. Wednesdays are dedicated to Sundance-produced originals, while Thursdays are all about music with Sonic Screen. Weekends begin on Friday nights with Theatreland, a doc series on the London theatre scene. Saturdays offer Midnight Snack, which features films that have earned a cult following. Sundays cap off the week with Asia Extreme, spotlighting features from filmmakers from the Far East.

"We are very pleased to be launching Sundance Channel and introducing this world-renowned brand to Canadian audiences," said Paul Robertson, the president of television at Corus Entertainment. "The quality and diversity of Sundance Channel’s programming gives viewers a wide variety of independent-minded films and original programming, creating a completely unique television destination for Canadians."
