SPTI Sets Up Korean Office

SEOUL, February 8: Sony Pictures Television International
has appointed Soojin Chung as the executive director
of licensing in Korea, heading up a new office in Seoul that opens this month.

Chung, previously the head of sales for Korea at Buena Vista
International Television, will be responsible for the licensing of SPTI’s
series and features, along with its international productions, to traditional
and new media partners in Korea. Additionally, she will support SPTI’s Asian
production acquisition efforts by assisting the ongoing evaluation of,
investment in and distribution of Korean content for SPTI in Asia and worldwide.
Currently, SPTI has a Korean TV drama distribution deal with CJ Media, one of
Korea’s leading entertainment companies, in addition to distributing select
movie titles from CJ Media and Korean anime from other partners. She will
report to Ross Pollack, the senior VP for SPTI’s distribution in Asia.

SPTI has been strengthening its presence in Asia, along with
being active in distributing Asian entertainment worldwide, with a portfolio
that includes Kung Fu Hustle; Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon;
the new CJ Media Inc.
drama Hyena; the award-winning
Korean anime series MaskMan and
the Korean feature How to Keep My Love, among others.
