SPTI Brings Karaoke Series to Asia

HONG KONG, September 20: Sony
Pictures Television International (SPTI) has licensed the format rights to the
music variety series Karaoke Showdown to terrestrial broadcaster VTV3 in Vietnam and Trans TV in Indonesia.

Karaoke Showdown has proved to be popular among European television
audiences. The show earned a share of 77 percent when it debuted on TV2 in
Denmark in 2005, and was eventually renewed for a second season in 2006. Karaoke
Showdown
has also been formatted
for local audiences in Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Poland,
Russia, and Serbia.

Karaoke Showdown is a music variety show in which contestants or celebrities
are divided into teams and compete to guess the title of a song sung by an
ordinary person. The teams can only hear the words the singer attempts to sing
without the instrumental track.
