SPT Networks Unveils Details for Picture This Festival

CULVER CITY: Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPT Networks) is launching the Picture This Festival for the Environment, an international storytelling contest focused on the protection and preservation of the planet.

The festival, which is part of the wider Picture This global awareness campaign that launched last year, will curate short videos, ranging from 30 seconds to 7 minutes, from contests hosted by channels around the globe. The festival is meant to share stories of successful endeavors or actions that could lead to a better, environmentally sound world. Eight participating networks will accept entries from countries in their territories that will be judged by local dignitaries and experts.

The participating regions are the U.K., Spain and Portugal, Russia, Central Europe (Poland, Romania and Hungary), South Africa, Latin America, Asia and the U.S. The regional winner in each territory will be flown by official airline sponsor American Airlines to Los Angeles for a day of events and a Hollywood screening on the Sony Pictures lot in October, when the global winner will be revealed. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 as well as a Sony 4K package that includes a 55-inch 4K television and a Sony-Alpha a6300 mirrorless camera, provided by technology sponsor Sony Electronics.

“Building upon the efforts of our networks around the world, which have encouraged their audiences to help improve the environment, we are now inviting creators everywhere to tell the stories of a better world, because the best stories are more than entertaining, they also motivate people to action,” said Andy Kaplan, the president of worldwide networks at Sony Pictures Television.
