Spielberg to Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award at Golden Globes

HOLLYWOOD, November 16:
Steven Spielberg will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at The 65th
Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air live on NBC in January 2008.

The award, voted by the
Board of Directors of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will honor
Spielberg for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.” It
will be presented to Spielberg during The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards,
which will be telecast live on NBC on January 13 from 8 to 11 p.m.

He will join the ranks of
past Cecil B. DeMille winners, including Warren Beatty (2007), Anthony Hopkins
(2006), Robin Williams (2005), Michael Douglas (2004), Gene Hackman (2003),
Harrison Ford (2002), Al Pacino (2001) and Barbra Streisand (2000).

Spielberg has directed,
produced or executive produced some of the top-grossing films of all time,
including Jurassic Park and E.T.
The Extra-Terrestrial. He is also
behind blockbusters hits such as Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, The
Color Purple, Munich, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws and Amistad, among many others.

Spielberg has received
three Oscars, earning two for best director and best picture for Schindler’s
List, and a third for best
director for Saving Private Ryan.
He has also received six Golden Globes and 12 additional Golden Globe
nominations.

Spielberg is also a principal
partner of DreamWorks Studios, which he co-founded with Jeffrey Katzenberg and
David Geffen in October 1994 and which was sold to Paramount Pictures in early
2006. The studio has been behind recent hits such as American Beauty, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, Norbit, Blades of Glory, Disturbia and Transformers.

The nominations for The
65th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced on December 13 at 5 a.m. The
show is produced by Dick Clark Productions, in association with the Hollywood
Foreign Press Association, which is led by Jorge Camara as president, Barry
Adelman as executive producer, Chris Donovan serving as director and Ken
Shapiro as producer, with Al Schwartz and Ron Weed as consulting producers and
Bob Bardo as the executive in charge of production.
