Sphinx to Showcase New Comedy Series

TORONTO: The half-hour comedy Pure Pwnage, based on the hit web property, is to make its debut to the international market at MIPTV in the catalogue of Sphinx Productions.

The Pure Pwnage web property has amassed more than 2 million fans worldwide and 9 million unique visitors since its 2004 launch. The eight-episode series, produced for Showcase in Canada, tells the story of Jeremy, a 20-something gamer who lives in his mother’s basement. His mom decides that she’s had enough, and now Jeremy must venture out into the real world. His brother Kyle, an aspiring filmmaker, documents his journey.

The television series is written by Jarett Cale, Geoff Lapaire and Mark Steinberg with showrunner Derek Harvie (Testees and The Tom Green Show). Executive producers on the series are Catherine Tait of Duopoly and Ron Mann from Sphinx Productions, with Davin Lengyel as co-producer.
