Spanish Private Equity Fund Takes Imagina Stake

MADRID, April 23: The Spanish investment fund Grupo Torreal
has acquired a 20-percent stake in Imagina, which owns a majority interest in
the La Sexta network.

Imagina is the product of the merger of Grupo Arbol and
Mediapro. In addition to a controlling interest in the La Sexta broadcast
network, it owns a host of production companies as well as the international
distribution arm Imagina International Sales. The company’s management team and
founders retain 60 percent control of the company, with WPP Group and Torreal
owning 20 percent each.

Torreal currently has investments in 19 different companies
in a variety of diverse industries and sectors. It will now have two seats on
Imagina’s Board of Directors for Pedro del Corro and José Díaz-Rato.
