Southern Star Scores DVD Deal in Benelux for Dramas

SYDNEY, April 15: Dutch FilmWorks, a multimedia distribution
company based in the Benelux region, has acquired the DVD rights to Southern
Star International’s new police drama City Homicide, as
well as the six-part one-hour drama series Rain Shadow.

Produced by the Seven Network Australia, City Homicide is told through the eyes of four young detectives
and their superiors. Under the watch of their detective senior sergeant and his
fearsome boss, the detectives of this inner-city precinct have to solve some
horrific murder cases, but first they must conquer their own demons.

Produced by Southern Star Entertainment for the Australian Broadcasting
Corporation, Rain Shadow stars Rachel Ward (On
The Beach
, Against All Odds, The Thorn Birds) as
country vet Kate MacDonald, who is battling to keep her community afloat in the
face of an unrelenting drought. Forced by necessity Kate hires a new veterinary
assistant Jill Blake (Victoria Thaine). Jill soon realises the Paringa farming
community has a secret which Kate and the local framers are anxious to keep
hidden.

Dutch FilmWorks’ Willem Pruijssers commented: “We are delighted to be in business
with Southern Star on both series. The constant flow of quality series’ which
are placed well at various broadcasters will be a guarantee for success on home
entertainment in Benelux.”
