Sony Pictures Names AXN SCI-FI General Manager

LONDON, August 26: Sergey
Plotnikov has been appointed as general manager of Sony Pictures Television
International’s (SPTI) AXN SCI-FI channel for Russia and the CIS region.

Plotnikov oversees the
continued expansion of AXN SCI-FI in Russia and the CIS region as well as
identifying and developing other opportunities locally for SPTI’s networks
operation. Based in Moscow, Plotnikov reports to Tom Davidson, the VP of international networks at SPTI. Prior to
joining SPTI, Plotnikov worked for Moscow-based City TV, where he was the CEO.

AXN SCI-FI is
present in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan, carrying sci-fi series such
as the Stargate franchise, Star
Trek: Enterprise
, Star Trek:
The Next Generation
, Mutant X, Kyle XY and Andromeda, as well as movies like Armageddon and Unbreakable.

“AXN SCI-FI has been a
tremendously successful network in Russia and neighboring countries with close
to 2 million viewers in just six months since its launch,” Davidson said.
“Under Sergey’s guidance, we are focused on continued growth in our networks
operation in the region through further carriage of AXN SCI-FI and through
exploiting other opportunities in this very exciting market.”
