NEW YORK: Of all the new shows that premiered across the globe last month, ABC’s new Thursday night drama How to Get Away with Murder, executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, generated the most buzz in social media with about 229,000 Facebook and Twitter comments, according to data from The WIT.

Conversation around the new crime/legal drama centered on Rhimes’ prolific output at #ShondaLand, show star #ViolaDavis, the #Thrilling story line and the #CrazyPlotTwists.

Second on last month’s top-ten rankings of buzz-generating new shows is M6’s version of Rising Star, with about 167,000 tweets. Buzz talk about the new talent competition focused on #Anticipation, #Disappointment, #LackofRhythm and #BadJudgePanel.

Next is FOX’s Batman prequel Gotham, with about 153,000 tweets. Social-media conversations centered on the themes #HighExpectations, #BatmanUniverse, #IntriguingPlot and #GoodButNotGreat.

The HBO special On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z generated some 129,000 tweets, with viewers commenting on the #EpicConcert #PowerCouple and #HotGuests.

Fifth place is filled by the Telemundo talent contest Yo Soy El Artista with around 124,000 tweets. Host Lucero, a popular Mexican singer and actress, generated a lot of twitter buzz, as did the #GreatJudges.

Another talent competition, Pequeños Gigantes, airing on Telecinco in Spain, generated some 121,000 tweets. Conversations were focused on the #KidFactor, #Talented and #Entertaining contestants, the #ToughCompetition and #Heartbreaking performances.

In seventh place on the Social Wit List for the month is ABC’s new comedy Black-ish, with 67,000 tweets. Responses to the show were mixed, with comments reflecting on the #BlackModernFamily, #CultBlackSitcoms and #FreshHumor, as well as #Stereotypes and #Racist.

Yet another Spanish-language musical competition format is on the list in eighth position with Antena 3’s Your Face Sounds Familiar kids’ adaptation, Tu cara me suena mini. The approximately 63,000 tweets touched on the #KidFactor, #AsGoodAsTheOriginal and the #Talented and #Entertaining participants.

Ninth on the list is the Lifetime TV movie The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, with 59,000 social-media conversations. Buzz talk included the topics #GuiltyPleasure, #Trashy, #Awkward and #90sMusic.

Rounding out the top ten is FOX’s Red Band Society, adapted from the Spanish drama, with about 58,000 tweets. Themes of the social-media conversation include #Humor, #Emotion and #GreatCast.
