Sky1 Scoops Up New Britney Spears Special

LONDON, October 30: Sky1
has secured the exclusive British broadcast rights for FremantleMedia
Enterprises’ (FME) new 90-minute doc Britney:
For the Record
to air less than 24 hours after the film’s U.S. debut on
MTV.

Produced by
@radical.media, Britney: For the Record will
showcase the pop star’s first-ever official biographical TV appearance, as
Spears records and promotes her latest single, Womanizer, and sixth studio album, Circus. The special will feature Spears talking candidly for the
first time about the tumultuous past two years. Sky1 and Sky1 HD will air Britney: For the Record in early
December.

Louisa Forsyth, the senior acquisitions executive
for Sky1, 2 and 3, commented: Britney
Spears is an international icon and the whole world has been fascinated by her
story. Britney has long been the center of media speculation, but now she will
reveal the truth behind those rumors; her own story in
her own words. Britney: For the Record
further cements Sky1’s reputation for providing must-see entertainment
exclusively for our customers.”

Justin Hatfield, FME’s VP of sales for the U.K.,
Ireland, Benelux and Scandinavia, added: As
the U.K.’s most popular non-terrestrial entertainment channel, Sky1 is the
perfect home for this powerful documentary on one of the most interesting world
pop icons of our time. Britney’s life journey is sure to captivate audiences
around the globe.”
