LONDON: Zeppotron, Endemol UK’s comedy and drama production arm, is to produce the two-hour detective spoof A Touch of Cloth for Sky1 HD.

The production is billed as an all-encompassing parody of every British crime drama ever written. It follows DCI Cloth, a heavy-drinking maverick/loner, played by John Hannah, and his sidekick, played by Suranne Jones.

Charlie Booker is part of the team writing the screenplay, based on a story by Boris Starling. Daniel Maier, a writer on Harry Hill’s TV Burp, is co-writing A Touch of Cloth.

Booker said, "After you’ve seen A Touch of Cloth, you’ll never be able to watch another detective show again. Not because it’s a devastating pisstake, but because you’ll have smashed your TV to pieces in a disappointed fury."
