Sky Offers Online Access to Pay TV

LONDON, December 4: BSkyB
has launched an online pay-TV service, Sky Player TV, which includes channel
offerings such as Disney Channel, MTV, National Geographic and Sky Sports, and
is cheaper than the company's satellite packages.

Consumers do
not have to be Sky TV or Sky Broadband customers to sign up for the new online
service. Sky Player TV offers Internet
users the choice of three packages of channels ranging in price from £15 to £34 a month, while Sky's cheapest satellite TV
package is £17 a month.

The
'Entertainment Pack' includes Disney Channel, British Eurosport, National
Geographic Channel, Sky News and Sky Sports News. MTV One, Nickelodeon and Nick
Jr. will be added to the package later this month, with further channels
joining the lineup in the new year. A
second option adds Sky Sports 1 to the Entertainment Pack, and a third package
combines the Entertainment Pack with all Sky Sports channels.

"Sky
Player TV recognizes that for some, the computer screen is now the preferred
screen through which to watch TV," said Mike Darcey, the COO of BSkyB.
"In developing a standalone subscription to a secure online platform, we
are responding to the diverse needs of today's consumers."
