Shine International Moving Operations to London

LONDON: Shine International is relocating its offices from Los Angeles to London, with president Chris Grant opting to exit the company.

Grant will work with the company through a six-month transitional period and will also help in the search for a president for the London base. Alex Mahon, the president of the Shine Group, will take on overall responsibility in the interim.

John Pollak, the executive VP, continues in his role as head of sales until the end of the year, remaining in the U.S. office and managing both the Los Angeles-based team and third-party producer relationships. Martin Rakusen, the senior VP of business and operations, will relocate to the London office.

While its central hub will be in London, Shine International will also have representation in France, Germany, Australia and the Nordic region.

Mahon said: “At this stage of the company’s growth, Shine International needs its headquarters alongside our teams that manage and exploit group formats, brands and digital rights, with local sales experts in our global production centers of excellence. This move ensures we fully realize the potential for our IP while remaining nimble, responsive and best able to act at pace on behalf of our companies and clients. Chris Grant has been an exceptional leader, establishing Shine International as one of the most successful and respected distributors of content globally. We are respectful of his decision to want to remain in Los Angeles and delighted he will be working with us to ensure a seamless transition, after which we wish him the very best in his future plans in which we hope there are opportunities to work together again.”

Grant commented: “I am incredibly proud of the substantial growth that Shine International has achieved since we started the company, and particularly in the last few years since joining the Shine Group. These changes are absolutely right for the business at this point in its development, however L.A. is my home and rather than relocate, it is also a good time for me to allow my colleagues to build on the success we have, together, created.”
