Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds Given to 11 Projects

TORONTO: Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and Shaw Media have awarded 11 projects with C$242,000 ($256,000) in grants and no-interest loans from Shaw Media-Hot Docs Funds.

Six completion grants amounting to C$182,000 ($191,750) were awarded to Buzkashi!, The Lost Highway, The Manor, Team Bones, The Waiting Room and The World Before Her, while five no-interest loans totaling C$60,000 ($63,211) were awarded to First Lady, Rebel War, Hadwin’s Judgment, How to Build a Time Machine, Land Hungry and Toronto 18.

A second round of applicants can apply for funding in September, with an October 26 deadline.

"The selection committees were enticed by the range of engaging and innovative projects submitted by talented teams from across the country," said Elizabeth Radshaw, the forum and market director at Hot Docs. “It is our pleasure to be able to provide support for films in the face of an increasingly challenged documentary marketplace."
