TORONTO: Shaftesbury Films is set to receive the 2009 Lionsgate/Maple Pictures Innovative Producer Award, which recognizes entrepreneurial excellence and achievements of an independent producer in Canada, at the Banff World Television Festival (BANFF) next month.

Christina Jennings, the chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury Films, will accept the award during the annual Alberta Film Awards Lunch at the Banff World Television Festival on June 8. “On behalf of the team at Shaftesbury Films, I’m delighted with this recognition presented by Lionsgate/Maple Pictures and we look forward to continuing to produce high impact Canadian programming that travels the world,” she said.

One of Canada’s leading film and TV outfits, Shaftesbury Films credits include the upcoming The Listener, set to air on NBC and CTV, ReGenesis, Murdoch Mysteries and Life with Derek. "The Lionsgate/Maple Pictures Innovative Producer Award was designed to recognize Canadian producers who achieve worldwide programming distribution and focus on building long-lasting relationships both inside and outside Canada,” said Kevin Beggs, the president of television at Lionsgate. “Shaftesbury epitomizes this goal and we congratulate them on being selected this year.”
