SevenOne to Launch Comedies, Formats & More

MUNICH: SevenOne International is to showcase the dramedy Lilyhammer and the comedy Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, among other highlights, in Cannes.

The U.S. feature film The Greening of Whitney Brown, National Geographic’s near-death experience series The Indestructibles, the docu-reality series the Louie Spence Dance Project will be highlighted at MIPCOM. Dick de Rijk’s You Deserve It and the new comedy series What If? from the creator of the Benidorm Bastards will also be showcased.

The Greening of Whitney Brown stars Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall), Brooke Shields (The Blue Lagoon), Kris Kristofferson (Blade) and Sammi Hanratty (Hotel Zack & Cody). When spoiled Whitney’s dad loses his job, the entire family is forced to move from Philadelphia to the country home of her father. The Man with the Bassoon, Fateful Love: The Hunt for U 864 and Room 205 will also be available to buyers.

The dramedy series Lilyhammer produced by Rubicon and starring former Sopranos actor Steven van Zandt, is about a man who hides from the Mafia in a small town in the Norwegian countryside. The Unit is a fictional portrayal of a specialized task force within the Norwegian police force, which is concentrating on serious crimes against children.

The comedy series Betty White’s Off Their Rockers is a hidden-camera comedy series where seven senior citizens play pranks on unsuspecting younger people. Movies on offer include the thriller The Last Dance, the 17th installment of Dream Hotels and Love XXL. The formats available include You Deserve It, featuring a contestant playing for someone else who deserves the prize, and What If?, the brand new comedy sketch show features question that start with "What if.” ORF’s Kiddy Contest is the most successful music talent show format for kids featuring children between the ages of 8 and 13 who perform current pop hits in the local language. Pop Quiz is a trivia quiz show where three contestants compete by answering trivia questions as they try to burst the most bubbles.

National Geographic’s new near-death experience series The Indestructibles shows how the physics of such disasters actually work, and how the mind and one’s psychological make-up can mean the very difference between life and death. The Oprah Winfrey Network series the Louie Spence Dance Project follows the world-renowned choreographer and dance instructor.
