SET Acquires Two New U.S. Dramas

HONG KONG: HawthoRNe and Drop Dead Diva add to U.S. series such as Top Chef and Cashmere Mafia in the lineup of Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in Asia.

HawthoRNe stars Jada Pinkett Smith, who is also executive producing the series, as a head nurse who goes out of her way to help patients by cutting through red tape at the hospital. The show recently debuted in the U.S. on TNT, and was the network’s highest rated debut among women 18 to 34. Drop Dead Diva is a comedic drama set to premiere in the U.S. on Lifetime on July 12. The show features the twist of a beautiful model who dies and comes back to life as a plus-size lawyer.

HawthoRNe is to debut in October on SET, while Drop Dead Diva is slated for a November premiere in Asia.

"Sony Entertainment Television is fast becoming synonymous with leading female general entertainment, with our plethora of first and exclusives of highly rated programs," said Voo Chih Yeong, the head of SET. "SET will continue on its quest for quality entertainment ahead of the competition, while bringing the freshest and juiciest programs to SET viewers."
