Sesame Street Set for Local Treatment in Indonesia

NEW YORK, November 7: Sesame
Workshop has entered into a partnership with Jakarta-based Creative Indigo
Production for 156 episodes—a total of three seasons—of an
Indonesian adaptation of Sesame Street.

Dr. Muhammad Zuhdi will oversee
the series’ educational component, developed with a panel of experts and
educators in Indonesia. To create this plan, advisors from throughout the
country will gather in Jakarta this week for a two-day meeting to discuss
Indonesian children's developmental needs and the way a Sesame Street project might help address them. Initial funding for
Sesame Street
Indonesia comes from the
United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It is not yet clear when the
show will launch. A broadcast partner has not yet been announced.
